I think it started with "You Put Your Left Leg In"
It is actually called "The Hokey Pokey"

I found the answer!! Hehe. The wonders of the internet huh? The 'Hokey Pokey' was written by and American in the 1940's for the ski-clubs in the US. It was the B-Side of 'The bunny hop' but infact became just as popular...
It is the Hokey Cokey in England, where it has been around since the 17th century, It is alleged that it is a Protestant skit on Roman Catholic ceremonial and derives its name from the Latin @Hoc Corpus Est' and its movements from the rituals associated with the Mass in those days.
