Norton 360 internet security

I have recently loaded norten 360 internet security on my computer and since doing it my computer has slowed down considerably especially when starting up. Does anyone know why this is and what can I do about it. Thanks in advance.

Norton is well known for slowing pcs down - it is a dreadful piece of software. Remove it - you may need the Norton removal tool found on Google and download a free firewall (ZoneAlarm) and a free AV (AVG) along with Spybot (free) from here:

actually 360 is supposed to be faster than many of the others.

360 is the current darling of most of the mags and security specialists - What spec is your PC? - a low spec PC will see a heck of a speed decrease whatever you run

If I'd just bought 360 I'd be more than a little pi**ed at being told to go for a free download (just me eth ... call me wierd - but I would!)

The difference between free AVG and 360 is 360 gives real time protection while AVG finds the problem only when you remember to run a scan - and assuming that you are considerate enough only to be infected with the only type of threat AVG can deal with (by which time all you password and bank details will already be safely in Ivan's databases!!)

the freebies are fine ... if you stick to the BBC website and don't buy or bank online ... or just won't buy (something is better than nothing)

anywhere else ... and it's time to consider what else you have on your machine.

If you've already shelled out ...

start with the pc spec.... then consider which options you actually need .... no kids ... turn off parental control...
no e-mail ... switch off the filter /// online e-mail turn off the spam filter .....

NO! just No! ok. Norton is tosh, and always has been. Just because AV programmes like "AVG" are free it doesn't mean they're useless. As it is, AVG isn't that brilliant. However, Avast! is a good AV program and is free.

Incidentally, ACtheTROLL, AVG DOES have real-time scanning...check the options if you're using it...

Also...your point about "bank details" being passed on...if you've got a properly updated AV program (not AVG or Norton - see above !) it'll trap these things (normally "trojan" programs, btw) before they happen. And the big rule is to NEVER EVER open a file/e-mail attachment that you're not sure about.
