Count Schwerin von Krosigk (May 2nd 1945) and Lord Conesford in February of that year. Also used by Ethel Snowden in 1920 referring to Bolshevik Russia. Lord D'Abernon in 1925 and the Queen of the Belgians in 1914.

Vasily Rozanov described an Iron Curtain descending on Russian history in 1918 and Ethel Snowden described Russia as being behind an Iron Curtain in 1920 but the Earl of Munster used the phrase in his journal in 1817.
