Violent Disorder ?
Im currently on bail til 12th Jan for a violent disorder offence that occured outside a nightclub.
I was involved in a large fight which resulted in no serious injuries, but 2 police officers where "injured" - the police are pressing charges against me. CCTV footage clearly shows me Loitering outside the club and throwing the 1st punch. This "brawl" occured between two different army regiments both back from recent tours of Afghanistan & Iraq respectfully. un -
Id been back in the country less than 2months when this incident happened - currently on post tour leave now. i refused a solicitor on my 1st interview and can't remember what i said as i was still intoxicated.
Whats going to happen ????????

I would not know the outcome of this particular case but I wish you all the best and hope you will learn from it..........FT

You're being charged with a serious offence.
The recomended action for a Magistrate trying violent disorder on a first time offender pleading guilty is to consider whether he has sufficient powers and to consider sending it to a higher court for sentence.
And a magistrate can order up to 6 months imprisonment!
I think you were rather silly in refusing a solicitor the charge of Affray is less serious and he might have been able to get the charge reduced to this.
I'd suggest you go and get some proper legal advice sharpish I think if you just let things run their course you might regret it
Especially as they'll look at sentencing guidelines here:
http://www.sentencing-guidelines.gov.uk/guidel ines/other/courtappeal/default.asp?T=Cases&cat ID=7&subject=PUBLIC%20ORDER&SubSubject=Violent %20disorder
that say :
Where offences of violent disorder are committed in the context of wider public disorder, it is appropriate to pass a deterrent sentence.
Such a context adds gravity to the offence and therefore the individual acts by the offender cannot be considered in isolation when passing sentence
Wider disorder and deterrent sentence are the two phrases you need to think about.
Get yourself a solicitor pronto!

Didn't realise the police could press charges (not nieve, just out of touch with civilan proceedings) - my regiment sent me to "anger" classes .. will that go against me?

/ "full-tilt" - its not that easy to go from a war fighting environment (& belive me when i say war fighting) to jumping back to "civilian" life, .but i understand fully what you are saying and thanks for the support.
