My system idle process seems to be taking up most of my CPU usage (between 40 and 80%). My computer is not being particularly slow, a sluggish at times maybe, but I just noticed this process taking up all my CPU usage! Is it anything to worry about or is it normal?

It's only taking up 16K of Memory Usage though. Odd, I thought.
System Idle Process measures the amount of time that your PC is doing nothing.
unless another process needs it your system idle process will use whatever it can of your cpu %
Actually thinking about it 40 - 80% is quite low what process is using the rest?

Well, it's now gone up into the eighties - I think I was running quite a few programs earlier, and I only have a 850MHz processor.
dont worry about it at all - mine is at 99%. basically means that 99% of the CPU power is..... idle!
That's what I said.
