Hibernate
I always close my PC by hibernating. What I wish to know is, is it a safe thing to do to leave it over- night this way? I`m juast going to do this now so `night all` I`ll look in in the a/m.

the options are misnamed
suspend actually puts the machine into a hibernation
the machine is still powered on ... but all the hardware is sleeping - so there is a small and constant consumption.
(if you unplug ... the machine will loose it's information)
whereas hibernate suspends the machine by using a large file (hiberfile.sys) saved to the hard disc which stores the memory state. the machine then switches off.
cut the power ... and when you restart ... you will be returned to where you left off.
you still need to switch off occasionaly ... windows will work for days without crashing .... but eventually it all becomes too much
