false pregnancy

my girlfriend did a pregnancy test the other day (she is over a month late of her period) and she got a possitive result she used a cheap test and did it correctly so we went to doctors and their tests said negative but they also used the same tests. they have sent a urine sample to be tested and results will be back tomorrow but i dont understand why it would say possitive when she did it correctly and she is on no form of medication?

with a pregnancy test, you dont get a false positive only a false false result. The is no way a test can pick up the hormone that is only found in pregnancy, however it might not pick it up when its there.
So to me it sounds like the test your g/f took would be correct.

sorry, meant to say, there is no way a test will pick up the hormone if it isnt present, hence why the result cant be a false positive.

Nothing is 100% with these tests, hence the doctor has sent off a sample to the lab who do more sophisticated and sensitive versions. Not to sound horrible, but time will tell whether she is pregnant or not. You sound like you are flapping a bit, as you would do, so you need to know straight away. You've gone to the doctors as soon as you could possibly have done so and for now just try to relax and talk about possibilites.

well doctors urine tests came back and they say negative so i dont understand why! im confused

has doctor given any other information other than the test is negative? Something must have given a positive reading in the first place if the test was done correctly.

Was there any reason why you went straight to GP after a positive test? most GPs wouldnt want to see her and would just wait for booking in appointment with a midwife. They would not normally test again, theyd beleive the home test.

well the nurse at the doctors did 2 home style pregnancy tests and they both said negative we went to the doctors to make sure she was pregnant

n when they both said negative tht is when she sent off a urine sample but as far as i no they have jus said it was negative

I would keep taking the home kits, I took 4 home tests which said I was pregnant and 4 doctors which said I wasn't ..... guess what, I was pregnant, took a private scan to prove it to the doctor though.
