6months preg and needs appendics removed
Please please can you reassure me. My sister was brought into hospital last night, she is 6 months pregnant and was having really bad pains. They think its her appendics and if confirmed will need to operate.
Is this a safe enough procedure, are there any risks. Thank you in advance.

A general anaesthetic always carries some risk for anyone, that risk will never disappear, but both mum and baby will be very very carefully monitored before, during and after the op.
Of course, it may not be appendicitis, wait for confirmation and then get the doctors to explain as much as possible to your sister and your family so that everyone is aware of the reasons for the op and the risks involved
I wish your sister and baby a speedy recovery

Sorry, Im late on this thread I know, I was just wondering what the results and diagnosis was. When I was 17 weeks pregnant, I was kept in hospital with what they thought was my appendix. Luckily it turned out to be just a water infection. It was serious enough though to make me poorly enough to have me kept in for 3 days but I was soon over it and now going well at 30 weeks.
Hope all is well with your sister.
