Labour started with twins and 25 weeks?
11 Answers
My friend has been texting and calling me today this morning as she was getting pains and she has now been rushed to the maternity suite at our local hosp because they think she is starting labour with her twins, she is only 25 weeks and I am really worried. They have said that they might be able to stop it and i am waiting to hear back from her as to what is going on now, but I don't know what to do - I feel a bit useless. She has her mother in law with her, not sure where her hubby is at the mo. She had an appt with midwife yesterday and there were two heartbeats and no sign that she was starting early, and she is at one of the best hospitals in the country for special baby care so that reassures me. I don't even know why I am posting in fact, but I feel a bit useless :-(
Please keep your pinkies crossed for her and the boys x x

She will be given steriods in case the twins are born early as well as drugs to try and stop the contractions.
If her waters havnt broken and babies are not distresed then hopefully they can stop the labour.
I wouldnt be surprised if she is kept in or put on complete bed rest though.
I hope all goes well for her and her little ones

I can understand your worry for your friend but she is definately in the right place and they will do everything they can to stop any labour. It sounds like the twins are doing well and there hasnt been any concerns so far so thats a very good sign that all will be well. I know of people going into labour very early, it being stopped and they have carried on carrying to full term so I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed that this will be the case with your friend.

Hi all, on her first examination they said that she was having mild contractions but that because she hadn't dilated they would be able to stop labour if needed and would keep her in for observation. They then did a internal womb scan and found that she has a large thyroid and that the "contractions" were actually waves of pain caused as the baby moved on it. They are going to continue to monitor her regularly but hope that, unless she starts labour herself before then, in mid January they will measure the groth of the thyroid against the growth / size / strength of the twins and may have to deliver by C-section then. She is home at the moment though and I am glad about that X
oh Natalie, thats great that shes got a reprieve, although she must still be experiencing pain as the twins bounce around in there poor thing!
I hope that the thyroid (?) or whatever it is doesnt grow and that the babies continue to get stronger and bigger and stay in there snug and warm for as long as possible. xx

I don't really know what she meant either Warpig / Red, but just relayed it as she told me! She has a 13month old daughter too, and her dog of 15 years was put to sleep last weekend so she's really having a tough time of it at the moment. They said that hopefully the pain won't be constant, but only when if the babies lay / move on it. Still it is good that they found it and she can be closely monitored now.
Red, I've been meaning to ask, but can't get on beta to PM - is 4get ok? I haven't seen her on here for ages!

OMG a 13 month old! Poor woman, she must be on the go all the time!
I wonder if she meant fibroid rather than thyroid. Not that it makes a difference when youre in pain eh?
4get is fine, she is very busy at work so has only been posting when quiet. Shes over on chatterbank now if you take a look lol
