corrupted hd

i have a sata 500gb hd, which has become corrupted.

the info i need of it has been retrieved, but now i am unable to format it

any ideas at all?

Have you run "fdisc", Windows partitioning tool first? This will delete any existing partition(s) and allow you to create new ones complete with a new master boot record.

Oh, I forgot to say that "fdisc" is on a Win 95/98 boot floppy. If you haven`t got one search the web for a download.

When you put your Windows CD in to the drive, does it not offer to format the existing C drive or ask if you want to restore the system?
