Has anybody had their carpet dry cleaned?

We're getting our carpet dry cleaned does anybody know if this leaves your carpet completely dry or is it still a little bit damp?

Last I had it done the carpet was a little damp.

Cleaning carpets isn't like dry cleaning a piece of clothing, where it gets immersed in chemicals which then evaporate. It uses a water-based solution that is then sucked back out of the carpet. It is impossible to get it all out - the residue has to evaporate off.

OK thanks, I had a new carpet fitted about 3 weeks ago its 100% wool, I had some furniture delivered & the work men just walked straight in the house & my cream carpet is filthy so the company have offered to get it cleaned. I had the same carpet in the previous house but when I had it cleaned it seemed to take the life out of it, I thought dry cleaning might be better for it??

You're getting beyond my threshold of knowledge on this, but that's my experience as well (knocks the newness out of it).

There is a dry system for cleaning carpets , but can't think what it's called . Why didn't you get the delivery guys to put a delivery sheet down , as they all carry them .

ensure your carpet is to be DRY cleaned as wool carpets can shrink and pull away from the wall if they are wet cleaned!

there is a national company called chemdry , never used them , always done it myself, having a dog it gets done once a month , got to agree though, once you start cleaning them they will allways need cleaning it takes the scotch guard out of them or whatever they use, If that had happened to me I would be spitting feathers .......

I've used Chemdry here in the U.S. and have been mildly pleased. I say "mildly" because the carpet that was cleaned was extremely used - probably 8 years old and never professionally cleaned. The process didn't remove the soil to my satisfaction. Since the soiling is fresh, you may have much better luck. The chemical "dry" process still produces moisture - but not as much as other processes. I'd check with the carpet manufacturer for recommendations. The individual cans of spot soil remover they offer didn't work at all for me. I was quite disappointed - especially since the cost per can was quite high. I get much better results with Resolve. It's an excellent product.
