Difficult one this. I agree with OUTFEATS but OUTWENT from Encarta says " outdo somebody or something: to go beyond or surpass somebody or something".

Any thoughts?

OUTFEAT???? The Oxford Shorter dictionary does not have it, neither do the Oxford Crossword or Chambers. But it sounds as feasible as my first choice OUTBEAT, which isn't in any of them either. Should we have a mass vote?

It should be in the past because the clue is exceeded - outfeat sounds like the present, wouldn't it be outfeated? Outbeat of course could be past or present
