another round of numpties getting these over-rated accolades.

What will happen when we run out of singers, tv presenters and sporty types.

Just look at the list of sirs.

Elton John then it's all downhill, or uphill in his case.

At this rate we'll all be getting them.
I really like it when a school dinner lady gets an honour, or someone who has been involved in something for no cash reward. But when the honours go to highly paid people just for doing the jobs they are paid to do, or by being paid vast sums of money and failing, like footballers cricketers and rugger players, (!) then they lose their value
I think Billy Connolly should get a knighthood. Hes brilliant
I mean Kylie, what's she ever done, except get cancer and get over it??!!!

Quite right funnygirl, exactly what I mean.
Billy Connolly - no way! :D
honours aren't given for failures. When the England cricket team all got gongs it was because they'd won the Ashes.

We will never run out of singers, why should we? But only the successful ones get honours. Nothing yet for Amy Winecellar.
kylie, thats what i said in a previous post
I Live in Tewkesbury and was hit by the floods Our Local Firechief was fortunate enough to get a KBE and he fully deserves it he didn't sit in his office and order everyone about he was out in the thick of it Leading from the front. he went three days without sleep doing his bit for the Community. For no extra money. When he could have been home in bed.

I agree , real people in real situations should always get recognised , Any "Star"unless they are exceptionally good in what they do should not be allowed to erode the status of these awards, All it does for some of these people is over inflates there ego even more and gives them a feeling of grandeur.....
Why is Richard Attenborough a Lord and David not? In my opinion David has brought more brilliant and fascinating programmes onto our screens and has also campaigned tirelessley for the rights of endangered species over the last 40/50 years. He should have been a Lord long ago.
Speaking of the Attenborough brothers
David and Richard followed different career paths so successfully they were each awarded knighthoods for their achievements. I cant think of any other pair of siblings to have risen to the very top of DIFFERENT careers to the point of Knighthood or Damehood. Can anyone else can think of any contenders?
Oh another thing, how come Bruce Forsyth has never become "Sir Bruce"
