escort zetec starter motor

my starter motor on my 1998 ford escort recently jammed and ive taken the 3 bolts out that hold it to the car but it seems to be stuck and wont pop out???

It might just be tight on a dowel pin, give it a sharp tap with a hammer first checking there is not a metal steady bracket bolted on to the end of the starter and then on to the engine block.
