Minging Cooker

My cooker hasn't been cleaned for a very long time, any suggestions on the best method/cleaning products to use?

I presume you mean the oven rather than the whole cooker?

Better than any cleaning product on the market, Caustic soda- Will have it sparkling, more commonly called sugar soap, it is available in diy stores, but be aware it is highly corrosive so wear thick rubber gloves and dont get it on your skin or eyes.

A brilliant way of cleaning shelves, grill pan wire trays etc - put the whole lot in a thick plastic bag, add a couple of tablespoons of ammonia (please be careful) - tie up the bag and leave overnight ( I leave mine outside by the back door).  The next day all the grease and grot will just wipe off with no scrubbing or broken nails!  It really does work.

Well done for having a go though, country_boy! My two male housemates don't even know where the sink is. And their idea of cooking is popping the film on their microwave meals with a fork and shutting the microwave door..

Thanks but I haven't actually started it yet!!  Was kinda expecting something less drastic like "Mr Muscle Mousse beats Fairy Foam every time"!

I'll have a crack with something like that before I resort to goggles and gasmasks!

If you have a garden with a lawn just put the racks on it overnight and the next morning just wipe over with a dishcloth and the muck just slides off.  This always works better than soaking overnight.  I also use Mr Muscle all the others are useless.
