What is sleep again?
And why are us pregnant ladies told to make the most of it and get as much as possible when its impossible?
Anyone else struggling with the night times or is it just me? I seem to have no problem sleeping during the day which is fine while my boyfriend is off work for christmas. But when he goes back to work and Im home with our 6 yr old, its not going to be practical! Ive got all the pillows and supports as recommended but still have difficulty in getting comfy, and when I do manage to get comfy, I get terrible heartburn! To add to that, the past couple of nights, my tummy has felt very tender and sore. Something I dont remember having during my other pregnancy 6 years ago........ can anyone else say they have or had that to set my mind at ease that its normal?
Well, its gone 2am, Ive just drunk a bucket of milky hot chocolate, time to try to get to sleep again!
Night night everyone ;)

Hope you had a better night last night psy. I've hardly had any sleep over the last 3 nights. The last 2 nights I've had the worst ever wind and poor old mrMB hasn't escaped the wrath of my wind passing so that has added to my lack of sleep. Admittedly I've eaten a slice of Christmas cake and Christmas pudding daily since crimbo day aswell as some verfy strong cheese. So mrMB has thrown away the remainder and I don't blame him. But if I'm finding it uncomfortable in bed now, there's no hope for me when I get to your stage. In what way is your tummy sore? Could it be your ligiaments being streched or even baby might have scratched inside as they have finger nails by 31 weeksdon't they? Have a good day psy x
Lack of sleep, tell me about it!! I have 10 days to go till I get induced!! Can't wait!!!
This past week has been the worst ever throughout my pregnancy, the only way I can actually guarantee myself some sleep at night is by missing out on my afternoon nap and waiting till I'm really really tired before I head for the pillows!! I wake up every 2 hours now for a wee, my hips and pelvis are clicking like mad, you'd think I was in my 70 with all the creaking going on!!
Bring on the comfortable sleepless nights where I can crash out during the day with no problemo!!!

Hi ladies,
It was gone 3:30 am when I finally got to sleep and have been sleeping on and off all day! The tenderness of my tummy is all over so I doubt baby has scratched the inside, its more likely just from my skin being at its limit and still being stretched!
As from next week I will have no choice but to get on with the day as my boyfriend will be back at work and its down to me to look after our little girl, Im just so glad I officially start maternity leave on the 7th so can nap when shes back at school!
I can understand you not ebing able to wait to be induced cwpsi, Ive said when I next see my midwife on the 15th, Im going to ask when is the soonest they will consider taking me in to either be induced or have a c-section to put an end to it all for me ............. and I had wanted a home birth from the start! lol
Hope youre both having a good day and I see legend has been banned again as he posted on this thread last night lol

hi psychick,
I hope yu had a great christmas.
ive been fairly ok with sleep, am knackered by time little crx goes to bed but my fella has got up through the night when needed and little crxhas slept in til 9am most days.
Im ok until my legs start to ache and i have to turn over. I feel like i need a crane next to the bed for this purpose lol.
Have to say though that my thoughts of having PGP / SPD seem to have been wrong, unless ive had more rest that im unaware of as i havnt been in a lot of pain over holidays. I suppose itll change when i get back to work tomorrow :(

Hello ladies - I did write a really long reply to this the other day but the system crashed (quelle surprise) and I lost it!
Hope you all had a lovely if not tiring Christmas :-)
The only trouble I am having with sleeping is staying awake past 8pm! I feel like such a miserable cow, and my fella has basically spent Xmas and New Year alone so I will make up for the next year. My bump isn't exactly massive, well it's still hideable really, and so sleeping isn't a problem for me in that way but my legs are so so so so achey and I often wake up with cramp, then baby starts their early morning work out around 5-6am so I am usually awake from then onwards, hence the early nights.
I have been feeling pretty energetic lately though and bedside cabinets and a nest of tables in the past few days so I am feeling very proud of myself and making the most of having energy during the day. (My fella is busy fitting a bathroom - he's not a lazy tyke that is sitting back watching me work by the way LOL).
I am back at work today and my lower back has started playing me up already, yet during the two weeks I had off over Christmas I didn't have a problem so I think I will have to get one of those support thingies for my chair.
Only other sleep thing I waned to mention was..... I know you are supposed to sleep on your side and that you should avoid sleeping on your front or back, but I keep waking up on my back! I am confident that my body wouldn't do anything to put my baby in danger (if that makes sense) but just wondered what the risks are. I have a routine midwife appt next week so will raise it with her then, but just wondered how you all slept and if you wake on your back too? Should i be propping myself into one position and staying there?

Hi ladies.
Had a nice quiet christmas red, dinner was late though because after all the pressie opening and things, I fell asleep on the sofa and was late starting it! lol Luckily no one minded.
With the PGP, I find if I have rested as much as possible during the day, its not so bad at night. If Ive had a busy day and aching already when I go to bed, I know Im in for a rough night. New Years eve, we went to my brothers house for a party and although I was mostly sitting down, because I wasnt able to put my feet up and rest properly, the next day I paid for it!
natalie, I have trouble staying awake during the day as i spend alot of the night awake so Im the opposite to you lol I have also been wondering about sleeping on my back because I find Im more comfortable there even though before, I have always slept on my sides. I think the main problem is the weight putting pressure on your arteries and intestines. During my last pregnancy, I had to sleep propped up, almost to the point of sitting up, but was laying back and was fine with that. It takes a little getting used to but maybe you could try that? Have a couple of pillows under your knees for support and get a v-shape pillow to support your neck as well. At the moment I sleep quite propped up but on my side with my bump supported with a maternity pillow. I also have two pillows between my legs for help with the PGP. If I can, I have my legs out in front of me as I find this the most comfortable way now. It just means theres no room for anyone else in my bed as I take all the space up lol With your lower back aching, when it does, try getting up and walking about for a few minutes. I cant sit here at my computer for as long as used to as it gives me back ache. Fortunately, I only use my computer for personal reasons and can walk away whenever I want.

cont........
I realised last night that I have 8 weeks left and went into a panic! lol As much as I want it all over and done with and baby here, Im not ready! Still got so much to buy, bedrooms to get ready and plans made. I havent even got the things I need to pack the bags in case I need to go into hospital! Im also starting to get Braxton Hicks almost daily now which scares me a little, I never had them when I was having my daughter. I was going to play a trick on my boyfriend last night when I had one. I was going to put his hand on my tummy when it was rock solid and tell him thats a contraction. But I decided that making him pass out might not be the best idea lol
