It doesn't automatically mean dyslexia as some say, and in time it all becomes clear and suddenly they 'Get It'.
The best thing to do is just calmly correct your child and make it light hearted by saying 'That's nearly right' change it for them or show them how to change it and then move on.

If you hold your hands out in front of you and make two 'thumbs up' the left hand reads 'b' and the right hand reads 'd'
you can draw round your hands in this shape and always have it on view for your child and at random intervals ask her to give you a 'b' (she should put her left hand in the thumbs up position) and then a 'd' - same action.
Did that make any sense? lol
I've been using this method for years with the children I work with and it's helped them greatly - If I pass them at any point in school I'll say ' gimme a 'b'' etc.
Hope this helps :)

Wow I pleased I am not alone my daughter cant get it either. Her name begins with a J and she is +getting the hang of a d going the same way. I like the hane idea though. also as she improves in her reading is sounding the wrong letter but I say nothing then as she figures the word out she automatically seems to get it right!!!
