Pip ive heard the side effects in teenage years can be quite bad.I did read somewhere about an alternative homeo[pathic medicine.i think ritalin is quite extreme.
my friends cousin was extremely hyperactive as they called it .hes about 28 now but when he was 6 he was removed from school for hitting teachers piiissing in classroom flooding school toilets etc etc.very anti social.he went to a special school and wasnt allowed chocolate or orange juice.turns out that it was e numbers that made him worse.controlling them controlled him.hes now got his own company doing pat testing of electrical appliances and employs 5 guys.hes been no bother since his mid teens.as far as i know theynever used any drugs.
Hi Pippa68

Can't sleep so came on to AB and picked up your thread. Don't know anything about Ritalin, but have friend who is involved in Pharmacy etc. Sounds like you have gone off it following your research, but I'm happy to get their opinion on it if it might help.

Cheers
Thanks for that leg :o)

The outlook does look promising ~ my consultant has told me that she has never seen any child over the age of 13 on ritalin, and she prefers to use it as a 'starter' for more therapies. It is supposed to help the child concentrate in order for further therapies to work...in other words it is a small help towards greater things rather than being used as a 'cure' in it's early days.

Apologies for going off course on your thread.

Yes please, country!

You can email me on my AB email address:

[email protected] with any info you can get. I haven't yet completed my research, as I am yet to find anything positive on the net!

id be wary and seek plenty of medical advice pippa.
never mind a 2nd opinion id want a 3rd and 4th.
Which is exactly why I haven't started her on it yet, leg.

Considering little Pippas problems have been going on for the last 4 years I couldn't consider myself hasty.

Never heard of that Jason guy so have to say Bruce.
Pele.
Never heard of game of life either so have to say monopoly.
As for Ritalin, I've heard from adults that used to take it and I watched a Panorama programme about ADHD and it does have bad side effects. According to the programme it actually made the kids worse after prolonged medication on it. I'd try and follow legends advice and cut out all snack foods, sugary drinks and frozen/tinned food as they always contain loads of sugars and e numbers.
Hi Pippa

I will email you with any info I get. May be a few days before I come back to you. Best wishes CK
