tags inside jumpers etc

does anyone know what these tags are for because they are really long now and some are attached under arms now.i thought they were for keeping clothes in shape on hangers?

I would cut them out and totally ignore them, all knitwear should be folded never hung up as it stretches and goes out of shape.

They are for looping over the hook of the hanger so that the shoulders don't slip off.

However, green dragon is quite correct - jumpers should be folded and not hung.

but i dont understand why they are so flippin long they never use to be.and yes they are a pain cos they always have a habit of finding their way out.
