In Debenhams mens shoes department the other day with the family - hubby trying to find something in a size 12 and youngest son age 6 howling with laughter - he was laughing so much he could barely speak or stand.

The object of his amusement....... the "kickers" section - he was convinced it said knickers and couldn't believe that such a rude word was plastered all over the wall. I felt a bit bad about enlightening him!

Remind me never to take him into the ladies underwear section. He is convinced that bras are ladies vests.

When my boys were younger. Nike trainers were all the rage, but I could not afford them. I used to buy a brand of trainers called Nicks and my sons, till this day couldn't and don't know they were not wearing Nikes!!!!

LoL funnygirl - its amazing what you can get away with when they can't read - unfortunately apart from the odd mistake, my two can both read and spell - no more spelling things out between my husband and I.
Years ago we were out shopping & I told my hubby & son that I was going up to the next floor in BHS. He said rather loudly to my son. "You`re mum`s off too look at the knickers" You should have seen the looks he got off people.lol
Annie, you indicated in your question that 'knickers' is a rude word. I thought that that was the appropriate word for them in the UK. In North America it's panties, and I thought that in the UK it's knickers.
Buy him a book on the workings of a W4NKEL engine. He'll be laughing til August!!!
Knickers is totally acceptable stewey, but it is still taboo to a small degree and probably quite funny to a 6 year old!!!
Hi annie,

When my daughter was little I told her the ding-dong music outside (ice-cream man) was the bin-men. She was a about 7 before her friends put her straight.... and still reminds me that I was a stingy mom.

Hi stewey - knickers is hilarious to a 6 year old as are the words panties, bottom, poo, wee, boobies etc.

wardy - I don't think he would get that yet! but he does think the fact that he can pull back his foreskin is really funny - his brother claims that he is never doing that! He is only 7 so I am sure that he will change his mind!

Ms Random, the tricks we play for a peaceful life! My two don't like the ice cream van as they think that the childcatcher from chitty -chitty bang bang works there - I don't know where they got that idea from!
Missy at least you didn't tell your daughter that the ice cream man only sounds his chimes when he has run out of ice cream!

My 6 year old has a hissy fit whenever I tell her that one day she will have boobs and a hairy chuff..bless her.
Thanks pip, that is so funny, you always manage to make me smile, xx kids are just great ain't they, we did the nikes thing as well and yes all kids think Knickers is a great word, I will leave you with "pee Po belly bum drawers"

for some reason, in our house the world "underwear" is equally hilarious!
You make me smile too ray :o) :o)

Bra is an incredibly funny word in my house, annie. Mr P uses the word 'undercrackers' or 'shreddies' for his pants which always brings on hilarity!

I gave my son the creeps the other day. He has the habit of walking around with his pants showing...his jeans are almost hanging down to his knees...anyway, I pulled my jeans down a bit and asked him if he could see my thong.

He legged it up the stairs yelling something about me being 'wrong' whilst littlest Pippa sniggered, and the middle one told me I was far too old to wear ''stringy knickers'' lol.
