Ironing business

HI I am hoping to start an ironing business, has anyone any info. ie. good suppliers for hangers plastic covers etc. Does anyone that has an ironing business use any special iron and board? Rails for the clothes being delivery to the customer? Can you give me any guidelines regarding pricing and what to pay people that work for you. Also do i need special scales to weight clothes. Any information would be really appreciated.

No info regarding suppliers, just to say that people working for you must obviously be paid minimum wage at least, currently �5.52 for most people.

Also, some places charge by the item rather than weight so if you did it that way, you wouldn't need scales.

This has become a higher competitive market in recent years with lots of housewives setting up little sidelines in their spare time.

The better ones will use proper presses rather than bog standard irons and boards and will have collection and delivery services over perhaps a 20-30 mile radius.

Hi,

I no of a unique way of marketing your business that I know worked wonders for a company that I know. AND I mean, it converted lot of business and was a great promotional tool.

All they did was print some flyers, with something like..
'Don't want your clothes to be as crumpled as this? and don't have time to do this yourself? then call.... etc etc

THEN they crumpled each one into a scrunched up ball and posted them through peoples letter boxes. When people picked up their post / newpaper, they would see the scrumpled up ball as it drew their attention and so opened it, whilst most of the other leaflets etc went in the bin. People also thought that it was a very novel idea when they rang up to enquire about their services.

Try it! Also, the use of Business Gifts | Promotional Products can prove to be a bonus to your business, as these can be cheap and are a good give-away to your customers. ie - a fridge magnet with your details on, in the shape of an iron.
