one-way fares from anaheim to LA $10, Oceanside $14 and San Diego $20.

Orange County, within which Anaheim resides has some of the best beaches in Southern California... The Beach Boys (or was it Jan and Dean?) didn't call it Surf City for nothing. I recommend Laguna, Huntington and of course Balboa and Corona del Mar.
If you have kids, then take in Adventure City (for smaller kids). For Mom and Dad some really good bargains, especially considering the Pound vs. Dollar exchange rate would be Anaheim Indoor Market at 1440 S Anaheim Blvd. Of course there are numerous excellent golf courses, if you choose.
Transportation without a car can be a problem, but you can see here that they bus service is pretty good : http://www.octa.net/ ... Here's some other stuff: http://www.thingstodo.com/states/CA/orange_cou nty.htm ...
I didn't mention the thousands of really good restaurants, but you'll certainly not starve!

so many places to & visit. We stayed at Best Western opposite Disney so walked to it. The hotel arranged a bus pick up for Universal [ great day out] we missed the bus and they said dont worry and arranged for another bus company to pick us up also went to Knottsberry Farm, and also went to Tujana, Mexico for the day, hotel pick up, it was a long day but the only way we could get to Mexico and good value for money.
You will find they are so geered up for tourists they can arrange evrything for you, shopping etc.
loved the aiport at Anaheim the John Wayne airport and there is a big old statue of the man himself.
You wont need a car, unless your on a fly drive holiday, if you are only staying for 7 days or less.
If you are on a fly drive, dont forget to do Carmel, Monteray & Big Sur and there is a big Wildflower park en route well worth visiting and taking a picnic, drive in [ you have to pay] and leave your car by the ocean and watch the seals etc.
its lovely.
Have a great time
