A recent survey has revealed women feel most

attractive at 38 while men feel they look their best at 25. At what age do you think you looked your best? Do you think you've got better with age? I'm 42 and feel good about myself and feel fitter than I was at 25 but then again since I stopped smoking 5 years ago I've felt so much healthier.

Why are you so ageist?

I have been sorting out my photos and it is interesting to see the distinctly different me thru the last 3 or so decades. Although I think I look my age (almost 53) facially, I look better in photos now.
Being aware of age made me change my hairstyle, have hi lites, etc. and make more effort with makeup (tho not this week as I am in hard hat and mask and covered in dust!).
I've always been confident, but being happy, happy within myself, and with how I look (apart from the extra pounds) means it is the now me I prefer.

I have been told many times that I look younger now than when I was in my late teens/early 20's! From the age of 17 I always seemed to be in a long term relationship with the wrong person and always ended up having all my self esteem and confidence knocked out of me( not physically though, just mentally and emotionally) Being single for a few years in my late 20's really did do me the world of good and I was making a huge effort just for me and thats when I think I have looked my best.
I think everyone has an age when they are at their best, for some it's sixteen, for others it might be 86. I suspect my alround best was at at 28. I'm happy with myself now though (49) as comparative to others my age I look OK and a lot of the Mum's in the school playground are at least 10 years younger and actually think I'm the same age!!! And who am I to enlighten them....
The question was about looks not feeling. There are few people who get better with age and in general they happen to be men. David Bowie is hundred times better looking 5 years ago than he was in the 70s.
Being attractive and physically good looking are two different things to me. Women at 38 have gotten over that 30 milestone and have confidence in who they are. To be honest resigning yourself to the fact that you are aging probably has a lot to do with how they feel. However, from a mans or an aesthetic perspective I can understand why younger is considered more beautiful. Bits are all nearer the right places, smoother skin, glossier hair etc etc but again physical beauty is different to attractiveness.
As for being ageist. None of my comments were directed at you. I don't think I am better looking now than I was at 18 or 21 and I don't for a minute believe that I will ever look that good again and if I ever pluck up the courage to phone him, I shall be going on a date with a 38 year old honey.

I think it is true that mid 30's is the best time for women. You are confident by that age, usually doing very well in your career, understand what suits you with regard to clothing, have confidence in your looks and ability but are still young enough to have good skin and a decent figure. It's a much better age for a woman than, say, 21 with all its insecurities. Sexually you are also more confident.
For men however I think, physically, late 20's is the best time.
