Can anyone suggest a good RPG for pc?

Hello everyone. I have a nice little laptop, and quite like RPG things, you know, the ones where you go around, and you have to choose your character, whether to be a wizard or warrior or elf or little fairy pixie etc (okay I made that last one up), and you go around talking to people in ye olde taverns, and solving puzzles, and you have a certain number of points to allocate to strength, dexterity, charm etc.?

Well, I used to play quite a good one some years back, I think it was called Runescape. I was wondering, could anyone recommend a good new game that I could get for my laptop, that is along similar lines? I was in the games shops this weekend, but have no idea what is good, and don't really want to invest �35 or so in something that I'm not going to like. If anyone could suggest anything I'd be very grateful.

Would definetely recommend the Elder Scrolls series, Oblivion or Morrowind. You can pretty much play the game and not do the main quest. I Just wander round, join guilds and do the side quests. I love it.
Just check it will run okay on your laptop, I imagine it's quite heavy on the memory and graphics card!

Guild Wars is a good game and has the added bonus of no monthly fees. Its a mmo game, you can choose a primary profession and then a secondary profession then go adventuring.
