Thanks to both. 9ac is now r - t - o - k - and 1ac is s - c - l - t - .12ac now has p - n - o - d
I think the 'k' in 9ac is right . The whole answer is 'Take down a peg' and all the other letters fit . Unless you can suggest another word in place of 'take'? The clue is What laundresses do on the line is somewhat deflating (4,4,1,3)
Scrips would appear to be a faulty answer .
20d Thrale
12 is Manhood .
1 across is maculate to give 1 down as minims .

Thank you again. I had realised that scrips could not be right and had thought of manhood, but was still struggling with the others. 9ac must be networkers so that finishes it. I expect I will be back for more help next week!
