fan oven temperature

My Zanussi fan oven runs about 40-50 hotter than I select. I've measured it with a digital oven thermometer & note the temperature swing between on & off is about 29deg.

Would a new thermostat cure this (it's 9 years old) or am I throwing money away (~ �140 to fix)?

My old Zanussi did the same after 14 years and I just got shot and replaced it with a new one. Trouble is I can't get used to the new slower oven!!!

I think it may be the nature of fan ovens...most recipes will state that if using a fan oven to reduce the required temp by a certain amount.
