non paying customer

I am a self employed nail technician. Recently a lady who lives in my area contacted me and asked me if i could do her a full set of nails. At first i said no as i am very busy. She then rang back and said could i remove the ones she had as she didnt like them ( she got them done by another nail tech) She pleaded with me so in the end i agreed. I removed her old set and then applied a new set. There is a charge for both. When i had finished she said that she had forgotten her money and would pop it in to me later. That was two weeks ago! I have phoned her but i get told that she isnt in or no one answers. I have been to her home but no one answered so i posted a letter through her door asking if everything was alright and that she still had to pay me for my work and could she contact me as soon as possible. Still nothing. What can i do. Also someone else said that if you ask for a debt in a street or a public place makes the debt void! Is this true?. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes i saw it, thankyou ethel. I decided to post it in law as well as i wasnt sure what one. Thankyou again. Do you know about the debt being void if it asked for in a public place?
