Hi,

I was sat on the settee earlier on this evening nibbling on a bag of pumpkin seeds. My cat jumped up to sit on my lap and got a scent of the seeds. He started trying to get one so i gave him one, thinking he wouldnt like it, but he started asking for more eventually he got a bit ravenous over them, so i stopped giving them to him.

Are these poisonous to cats or is he ok to keep eating them in the future (its hard to find something he likes!?)

Thanks x

If you don't get a more qualified answer, consider this; Before the commercial worming agents were developed, pumpkin seeds were a popular deworming medicine for birds. Apparently the high zinc content shifts the worms. In light of this I would'nt say they were poisonous but certainly restrict the intake for an adult cat to about 12 seeds per day to be safe.
I worm my dog with pumpkin seeds and blue cheese. They do the job of commercial wormers but the natural way :-)
hi you can get cat food which has chicken and pumpkin in. its called applause. my cats go mad over it, theres all flavours like chicken and cheese.
they do dog food too and one of my dogs can only eat that and nothing else as she has ibs.
