i recently moved away from my home town (approx 20 miles away). i still work in my home town, so have found it mostly easier to keep my existing doctor. but is there any way can i register with another more local doctor as well?
I've had 2 and had different records for each, dont know why I was young and when on pill and was scared my mum would find out if I had same doctor. So it can be done
how old do you think I am?? Before computers :-) I could do it but they did say it would be easier if I went to one because they still had to transfer all my records
Pickle - this wonderful computerised record-keeping system means my local hospital has 2 separate identites for me and cannot track whether it has sent letters out. Hmmmm. I suggest mandimoo just registers and keeps schtumm, act stoopid if anyone challenges you.
There are very good reasons why an individual should have one GP including the obvious medico-legal problems it could create for both doctors should you ever have a serious medical problem.
Of course nobody here seems to have considered the position you might be placing a GP in by doing this.
Has it crossed your mind what would happen if you were admitted to hospital urgently for example and they needed to contact your GP/s with regards to previous medical history??
Also, if you've moved to a different health authority (which with the distance involved is pretty likely) you will have to change doctors. When I moved last year my old GP said they could no longer treat me.
