I have been to Luxor airport before and remember queueing at a bank (or something similar) to get the visas after getting off the plane, and before passport control, but can't remember how much they were. I think maybe I handed over an English 20 note and got some change in Egyptian pounds. Can anyone that has been recently remind me? I want to make sure I have the right money with me. Thanks.

Went about two years ago at that time a visa was 10 pounds at passport control
I think it's now 15, payable in British 10 and 5 notes.

Thank you both, that seems to tie in with what I remember. Looking forward to getting away from the rain!
It has been 10 or US$15 the dozen or so times I've been, but you can be sure that the bank tellers will accept 15 or even 20 (and try to resist giving you change!).

To counter this habit, Egypt have introduced a new kind of stamp... refer: http://www.divemagazine.co.uk/news/article.asp ?uan=3965

If you are in any doubt simply take a few 5ers with you. This is assuming you do not have access to US$15.

p.s. Interesting, the article suggest that the price has been reduced from 10 to the sterling equivalent of US$15. I have not been there since the new rule came in so have yet to test this, but I always try to pay in US$, and always ensure I have the right change.
