computer freeze

Does anyone know why my computer keeps freezing up? Sometimes it is for a short amount of time, sometimes I have to manually shut the computer down When this happens, if I look in the Task List 'Acrord32' appears (it is never there beforehand). I know that this problem does not arise from using too much memory as I alway make sure that I have as few background programs running as possible I use Windows Millenium Edition.

I think Acrord32 is Acrobat reader, does this happen when you click on a link to a document on the internet? Downloading PDFs (Acrobat documents) in most web browsers is a fairly hit or miss affair I have found. The best thing to do is to right click on the item and do a 'save as' and then open the document from explorer.

worst case scenario: i have seen this caused by a faulty power supply, and motherboard (damaged as a result) - PCs often use cheap power supplies which overload/have ripple on the voltage lines.

 if you cant solve this via software, then try exchanging the power unit for a brand name one

I had Windows ME , BIG MISTAKE, it froze or crashed,every time I used it, I upgraded to XP on the same computer and everything works ok.

I had the same as Casper 840. Install XP over the top of ME and you'll be very surprised/pleased at the improvement.
