Teen can be anyone between 13-19 please be more specific
You need to go to your doctor to get this sort of diet advice. Well done you for wanting to put on weight though. nice to see someone isn't infected with the size zero mentality.

Its difficult, I have tried to gain weight all my life and only recently (at 43) put on 10lbs quite quickly which only takes me up to 8st and Im 5'4" so Im still slim. My GP wouldnt take me seriously and a dietician said i was doing everything correctly. Was a mystery why I didnt gain weight really.
Quite happy in my own skin now at 8/10.
xodanazox - being thin isnt necessarily unhealthy! sounds like youre doin ok, just chill and enjoy your food, wish I had instead of worrying about it lol
Yeah, I was 9 1/2 - 10 stone all my adult life and quite skinny, even when I was boxing and all through my Army career some of us are built that way, like weeal I've just started to put on weight since I turned 40
I have always been a skinny woman too until recently. I was 7st 11lb for years, then went up to 8st 3lb and stuck there for ages,I am now 8st 11lb and looking a lot healthier(I am 5'4"). All I did to achieve this was quit smoking and start eating healthy foods at regular meal times,I also work out with weights now as much as I can and as muscle weighs more than fat I have gained that way too :-)
Have a word with your doctor/dietician if you're worried. I'm 5ft. 7ins. and weighed in at 8st. 5lbs the last time I looked. Might've touched 8.5 by now, but it's the natural way for all our family. Eating a healthy diet which contains protein and carbs, coupled with exercise, should build muscle, but so long as you're fit and healthy, I think weight is over-rated. It wouldn't do if we were all the same, but also remember that you're in your teens, and have time to grow.

Why do you want to gain weight? As long as you are healthy enjoy the freedom of eating any and everything without the complex of weight gain. You are young and still growing, your metabolism is fast and your body is using the calories. Enjoy yourself and stop worrying about gaining weight.
If you are a teenager, you have probably grown upwards rapidly, and next you will fill out.

Don't overeat, or you will fill out in the wrong way.

I was like that when i was younger. I could never gain weight no matter what i ate. It may be that you have a higher metabolisim and burn the fat off quicker. If your Dr isn't concerned then i wouldn't be.
