I think they are awful, personally but if you really like them - go for it. My point is - your boyfriend has no right to threaten you like that over a pair of boots!! It's you that counts, not what you wear and I wish men would start waking up to that fact.

Any guy who gives his girlfriend this sort of ultimatum is either crazy or a control freak. The only alternative being that he is a closet gay who thinks he's starring in queer makeover. Get the boots and ditch him. If getting the boots made my girlfriend happy then I'd be happy.

Personally, I think they look hideous, but if you do buy them, make sure you don't slip over onto any dog mess or chewing gum! Sorry, I always look at the practical side of things!

When I was young Nicola I would have probably have bought them 'cos I loved outlandish clothes.  Used to make most of my own out of weird and wonderful things, just to stand apart from the crowd.  Nowadays, I am more practical.  I think they look fun, but would last about 5 minutes - especially if, as Smudge says, you trod in dog poo or even a muddy puddle. 

 

However, don't let anyone stop you buying something you like.  I can't imagine he would leave you for one minute.

thanks again all. It's been really entertaining hearing all your opinions! I'm sorry that druiaghtagh took offence to the question as I had no intention of mis-using AB, I just thought it would be a good way to get a variety of views, and it has helped. I would like to add that my bf is a very lovely person and would no way seriously leave me if I bought them - but I do get the feeling he would refuse to leave the house with me if i wore them...

nicola_red, I actually saw a picture of the same boots in The Sunday Mail Magazine yesterday. They were on a model & in white fur! Now they would have been even less practical!
