It looks like we may be getting a November Bank Holiday. We will be celebrating British Forces Day, which will be the day after Remembrance Sunday. I am in favour of this day as opposed to the others that were suggested. I think we need something to look forward to between August Bank Holiday and Christmas. The others were Shakespeare Day which was April 23rd, Diana Day 1st July, her birthday. NHS day 5th July, the day the NHS was born and Beatles Day 9th February, the day the Beatles first played at the Cavern.
I just hope we are consulted and can get to pick!!!!!!

Im all for another bank holiday. But lets be honest here, why will we look forward to it? Because its a day off work to go out enjoying ourselves, taking the kids for a day out, shopping etc. It wont actually mean we sit down and reflect for too long about the reason we have the day off. Very sad, but true for the majority i reckon.
Those that gave for us are forgotten by thwe Important things eh?shopping etc etc .sadly it will be just another day off as red says
I'm not so sure about that. I think you'll find that the many regimental associations will organize parades , events etc in their local areas.
yes they will Derek, just as they probably do for the Remembrance Sunday but i still dont think that it will alter the fact that people are more concerned about the fact that they get a day off work.
Not many forces will arrange events the day after Remembrance Sunday. At least it wasn't called "Diana Day". That would be just wrong.

Why does it have to have a name anyway? What's wrong with the old favourites like Spring Bank Holiday, Summer Bank Holiday and so on.

True Squarebear, they could call it Winter/Autumn Bank Holiday.
I am not at all interested in anything to do with the forces and must admit, it will be just another day to loll around in bed!!!
I agree with you redcrx - it would be nice if it could be combined with some sort of fundraising. I sort of thought it should be 'Children In need Day' so that although it was a day off everyone could spend it doing mad things, having fun and raising money for charity. A day when the whole country goes a bit bonkers.
Sadly I think British Forces day will become the 'First Christmas Shopping Day' and I expect all the shopping centres will market it as such.
I definitely like the idea of extra time off work.
More holidays the better I say.
Oh yeh,time to chill out!!
