I didn't see the plastic AC to AC adaptor on top of my (gas) cast iron stove when I switched it on and now its melted on solid, whether hot or cold. How can I try to remove it?

You could try heating the plastic up with a hot air stripper. Be very careful, & take it very slowly, doing one section at a time. Don't use a sharp implement to scrape off the melted plastic, you could damage the cooker!
If it's damaged beyond repair you should be able to chip it off. Plastic doesn't usually stick naturally to cast iron. The lower the temperature, the easier this should be.
i'd try a glass scaper (like a stanley blade in a holder) i was told to use these by AGA for stubborn staines, burn on stuff etc, might work?
