howling dog

Can anyone else make their dog howl? I have a springer Spaniel called poppy, whenever i call her name over and over in a kinda singing voice( ??) she howls like she can't help herself!!! Anybody else experienced this?

Yes, I can make one of my dogs talk rather than howl. My other dog is deaf so she doesn't get the aural stimulus to trigger it off.  If I 'talk' to my dog and make low howly noises he will answer.  The 'conversation' goes on for ages and is very funny.  He gets very intense and I sometime wonder what on earth I am 'saying' to him

My old mongrel used to howl everytime i played "Theme from Harry's Game" by Clannad.

She used to go and sit by the speaker and howl along...only to that song!

Yes..my dog howls with me when i sing how much is that doggy in the window...i wonder if its because my singing is crap???

My last Springer Spaniel could howl for england, he was a rescue dog & was with us for 10 years. Our problem was stopping him from "singing" & we couldn't play any vocal classical nusic ( mainly the Tenor voice) in our house for all those years. I swear to God that he sometimes was in perfect tune with the singer. His name was Benjamino in we came to the conclusion that he was the reincarnation of Benjamino Gigli. He has crossed the rainbow bridge now but we would have him back tomorrow if only it were possible with all his musical hangups because he was a wonderful,faithfull friend & we still grieve for him after two years. Enjoy Poppy while you have her. Springers are a fantastic breed. Sincerely. ....Spinner.

Our old rescue dog, Roy, used to howl to various things.

The funniest thing was that his real favourite was Bach!  He used to sit by the organ whilst my son played and 'sing' away all the way through!    He also used to howl whenever he heard church bells.
