Implanon contraceptive

Have any of you ladies got the implanon contraceptive, if so how often do you get your period? ive had mine in for a year now and i have just recently started to get really painful breasts..(got them checked no problems) but now i have come on my period, is this normal with the implant??? TIA

Hi I've had mine since March 2007 and my periods have been a bit erratic. Didn't have one for about six weeks then it lasted nearly four weeks! Now there are big gaps between my periods and they can last about a fortnight - the bleeding is very superficial though. A colleague of mine is on it as well and she has no bleeding so I think it just depends on the individual

Very true it does depend on the individual, as I have had mine for nearly 2years, first 6mths no period at all, but now I get them every 6-8 week and it tends to last 6-10days. I find it so convenient as I no longer have to remember to take the pill, which I was rubbish at!

I have been using implanon for nearly 4 years now and have only had around 2-3 very light periods that last a few days in that time which has been brilliant! I too can get very painful breasts and sometimes it worries me but it passess, it has still been the best contraceptive I have ever used
