is it true that they always run in pairs and so if one runs across the road in front of your car you should brake in anticipation of the the second one cos that's the one you are more likely to hit?
Not always Dot, but they often do run in pairs or more. Not really sure about whether you should brake or not, makes sense just in case I suppose.
I remeber being out in the field one summers evening, and 3 roe deer came running out of nowhere, looking like they were being chased. My stepdad had been scaring me with tales of the beast after the neighbour found a deer with its leg bitten clean off, only a few days before. I ran as fast as I could all the way back home.
Hi Dott, it's deer and there are likely to be others though not necesserally a pair because they are social animals and live in herds. It's more common to see Stags on their own as they are often kicked out of the herd by the older and harder Stags that want all the women for themselves.
When I see a dog, cat, squirrel, or any animal crossing the road, I always anticipate another one. Hate running over animals. In fact I never have, and don't want to.
No.On the road to oban just past rob roys grave i hit a single deer .Just clipped it at 60 with my fiesta van.it ran off though.Alone.Only animal i know for sure definitely in pairs are swans.unless their mates die then they stay alone.Never remate. Now thats loyalty.
2 words legend, Greyfriars Bobby! I think turtle doves do a similar thing with their mates too and there was a time when humans were able to do it but then women got the vote and it's been downhill ever since.
Canada Geese mate for life also. Most formations, they always fly in a > pattern, are in multiples of two. The odd time you will see an odd number. However, I have never driven over any of them.
