Watching about the young guy who was in chatrooms talking about suicide. And sites telling yiu how to kill yourself , and encouraging yourself.By promoting suicide youre actually breaking suicide laws.Though theres a loophole that because youre not face to face the encouragement isnt illegal.Although the government say you CAN be charged if you encourage someone , even online , to commit an offence. What are you views on this?Ive seen posts where if someone says theyre gonna end it all that folk make fun of it.And that was here on ab recently.Do you think thats sensible or do you think its sick and rather twisted?Feel free to discuss this and contribute some answers and opinions.

I would have thought that unless someone was suffering from a mental illness, which for some reason left them vulnerable to suggestions, then no one could make you kill yourself.
You can't make it impossible for someone to obtain the information on how to kill themself. People have been at it for years, its not a new event and you can't stop kn0bheads cheering someone on (although they probably dont realise that the person may actually be serious).
What we as adults can do is make sure that you keep your children safe. I know NCH have been researching this, and most parents don;t know what simple things like blogs are. They want search engines to provide a list of helplines down the side of the page, when looking for these sites. Then again how many teenagers actually use these sites, thousands I expect. How many make a serious attempt to kill themselves? Does the internet increase this? Or would they just go and do it anyway?

I do recall the guy in england using pal talk .a site i know a few froggers use.he was in an arguement room and ended up being goded into killing himself on webcam too. last month i was reminded of that on answerbank.some of the posts were truly sick.but hey im an idiot and know nothing.i did know not to get involved in goding someone into ending it all.
I think if someone announces that they're going to end things to all and sundry, it's a cry for help. Those who just go ahead and do it, mean the business. A lot of youngsters, fuelled by depression, pressures, lonliness or whatever, really just need understanding and love. Of course, mental illness can also drain a person of being able to see their way forward, so in their desperation, they want to opt out of life. I think any threat should be taken seriously though, as even if the person wouldn't actually do the deed, they're feeling miserable enough to contemplate it.
I don't understand you Im and idiot and I know nothing comment. It seems out of place in your response.
I remember that too but I could come on here and say I am so bored, I am going to kill myself. If people started cheering me on saying do it, do it, do it. I wouldnt start threading the rope up. You got to want to do it in the first place or be severely unhinged.
I would think that most people who talk about suicide online are crying out for help, possibly from others who feel the same or are just trying to get a reaction or like the attention from threatening suicide.

It's not true of course, i just can't work out how to put cash from my bank account straight into itunes so that I can buy the pigeon detective's album as it's only 4 quid odds. The point I was trying to make is that it's easy to say something like that and not mean it. I've seen posts on here like that and they give very little info so it does look suspect. If somebody was to say something like that, it would sound to me like they just wanted to get something off their chest but were trying to test the water to see how sympathetic people were first.
What I'm saying Goodsoulette, is what I've said. Legend was asking for views/opinions, and that's mine, where talk of suicide's concerned.
As you'll see, I agree with you that people are crying for help in many cases - and some are, indeed just attention- seeking, but who's to judge if a person's serious or not?
I think you're basically saying the same thing as me, although I found it hard to work out what your first sentence was about.
