how long is this virus epidemic/type thing supposed to last..as in..will the scare be over within a matter of weeks or will it be untill summer or what? thanks

it's a winter bug and i think its on its way out - it peaked just before xmas.

I shouldn't worry about it too much, I read yesterday that reports about the severity of the outbreak had been greatly exaggerated, apparently its a common winter bug (as Toby says) and no more people caught it this year than last year. Don't know about you, but I don't even remember reading about it last winter!

Why would you be scared?
So you get a dose of the tom-t1ts and create the odd 'pavement pizza'? you will survive I'm sure.

I had it a couple of years ago and it's certainly unpleasant, but nothing to be scared of. It's just another illness, not some terrible plague! If you are really worried just make sure you have some rehydration sachets in your medical cabinet just in case.
