Is it possible to copy analogue photographs onto CD? I know that I can scan them, save as Jpeg file then burn to CD, but this is very time consuming. Do any shops copy them onto CD?

For optimum quality, you should scan from the negatives.
For this you need a dedicated film scanner, or a good quality scanner with this option.

Jessops and other photo shops offer to scan negatives & burn to CD.

Once you find out how much they charge for this service - you will wish you could be paid at the same rate for operating your PC/scanner.
Snappy snaps do it for you but at a high cost see here, most other high st places will be about the same.
