Have you got proof that you paid towards it? Statements etc. You would need to consult a Solicitor they normally allow 30mins advise free. It's still a very grey area from when i went through it.
How long did you both live there before you moved out?

we lived there from 2003 till 2006 together as a couple and I have bank statements to prove I was helpping towards the bills.
Did you pay more than you would have had you been renting your own place?

How long had he been living in the house before you moved in?

we got the house together ie looked for it together so he did not lived there on his own before me. I was just very stupid and allowed him to sort things out I was also pregnant with his child when we got the place.

The amount paid in covered the morgage.
You are almost certainly entitled to a share of the equity - if there is any.

See a solicitor.
