Bleeding from the bum

I started with the bug sickness and diarrhea on friday, i took immodium plus as soon as i realised what i had. Ihave not had bowel movments since. Yesterday when i went to the toilet i noticed bleeding from my bum. and today when i went it has got worse. any advice and could it be linked to taking immodium. ?

Not sure if the immodium would cause this. Did you have to 'strain' when going? Is the blood bright red or dark red.
Bright red would indicate burst blood vessels (piles) dark blood would be older blood being passed in the poo.

Meant to add that personally I tend to say away for things like immodium unless it is absolutely necessary. Better to let these bugs work themselves out (unpleasant as it is), drink plenty of fluids or get some dioralyte (sp) from the chemist to help replace liquids and salts.

Sounds as if it may be piles, can be caused by diarrhea as well as constipation, as warpig says if blood is fresh it is probably burst blood vessels, but if it persists, please just go to the docs, only takes a minute to get it checked out but don't start worrying.

It could be an anal fissure - a very small tear which will quickly heal itself. Caused by straining to vacate the bowel.

If it is bright red, it is nothing serios.

If it is black, dark brown and of a tarry consistency you are bleeding higher up and it needs investigating.
