curtain poles and crumbling walls
4 Answers
I am trying to put up curtains in my son's bedroom, but the wall just crumbles when we try to drill into it. I have tried screwing into the wooden window frame too but it's not deep enough to hold even a light pole. Any suggestions how I can cover his windows (there is a roller blind up, which did attach ok to frame)? The windows are sash windows so it is getting very draughty in there!

What about using No Nails to put a piece of baton up and then fit the pole to that, I know it might make the baton a permanent fixture but if thats not a problem for you its one idea. If hubby makes contact with base I'll ask him for help.
I saw your post and was about to suggest the solution that origanalang has already come up with. it is a cheaper option than replastering your walls. You could paint the baton the same color as your frame or walls so that it doesn't stand out . I can sympathise with your predicament. We bought this bungalow we are living in now 5 years ago, we have had to have it completely replastered room by room . The plaster fell off the walls when we removed the wallpaper. It has been a nightmare.
Hello
Just in case some one has the same problem. In a new property you will have a small amount of plaster on a plaster board wall. You need to get a fixator which is steel and has a cork screw end which you screw in to the wall after drilling a small pilot hole this will hold almost anything and I have been using these for around 8 years you can get them in any diy store but dont get the plastic ones as they are no good it has to be the steel type. They come with instructions and they are around 2inches in length.
