passport check on easyjet plane...why did this happen to me?

recently i flew with easyjet and had a bit of a strange experience. what happened was we had all boarded the aeroplane and were sat down ready for take off when my name was called on the loud speaker and i got had to go down to the front of the plane where the cabin crew asked to see my passport and boarding pass...& that was it. i wanted to ask them why but didn't dare! i was hoping someone could tell me why they did this when i had been through security!? any suggestions much appreciated. thanks xxx

???? I thought you gave up your boarding pass as you boarded an Easyjet flight. Have things changed?

The most probable reason is that you weren't recorded as boarding - for some reason you weren't 'ticked off the list', whatever that entails - so they needed to check you were there and that you were you.

Dzug: Even though you give your boarding pass before boarding, you still keep the stub which they check when you enter the aircraft.

Thanks ff - my memory is of just being given a plastic boarding card that they reuse every flight. Either things have changed or I'd forgtten the other bit.

Dzug is correct, they used to have re-usable boarding cards which were gathered as you left the gate to cross the tarmac to the aircraft. Now they use main-stub card boarding passes which are double-checked (i.e. the stub) at the aircraft door. All to do with the times we live in.
