Hi everyone. I just wanted to know if anyone's had any experiences of the above in treating stress and anxiety.

I have posted this in B & S but CB seems a little livelier this afternoon. I look forward to hearing from you.

I understand that, bean, and I suppose different treatments suit different stressors. I was meaning wuite broadly; for a lot of people, reasons to be stressed are often work-related. That's the case for me! I have tried various coping strategies, and just wondered if supporting them with Alternative Medicines would be of any benefit.

Hi logic, that's kind of you thanks! What an interesting job, does she enjoy it?

It's nothing serious or specific, I am just under a lot of pressure at the moment: I work and study, and balancing this with the rest of my life is becoming a struggle. I don't have long to go before I graduate (fingers crossed!), and I just wanted something that would help me relax and unwind.

I would love to know if there is anything she can recommend. Many thanks in advance :) x
Hi, leelapops ,yes she does enjoy it,she is a masseuse doing sports injuries,
reflexology,
Reiki
stress mannagement, and so on, she has many qualifications, she is actually busy now,but I will discuss with her over lunch this evening,And i will put up a post tomorrow, if you wish,

Hi, leelapops. Sorry to hear you're feeling stressed out, although with all that going on in your life, I'm not surprised! When I get like that (quite often - you know what I have to put up with...!!) and can't sleep, I find that a few drops of essential oil of lavender on the pillow when I go to bed works wonders. At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, a nice cup of cocoa (the real stuff, not hot chocolate), made with milk at bed time is great, too. If you get a good night's sleep, it'll help with the stress of the day, and lavender helps, as does the cocoa (real cocoa's good for the heart as well, apparently). The other thing that helps relax me is a small, ginger cat, snuggling up & purring!! K xx
I've tried loadsa them and have come to the conclusion that most of them work because of the one-to-one interaction and the feeling of someone listening to you.

Accupuncture, reiki and homeopathy had zero results, but a good back massage or Indian head massage does the world of good - you can't help but relax! Even a facial chills me out!

I've also found yoga great and physical activity - especially Pilates (you have to focus to do it right - so no time to stress about anything else!) and a hike up hill and down dale (which I now do every weekend - better than Prozac!)

Hope you feel a bit more chirpy soon - and don't forget, this weather is cr@p and makes everyone feel down - once the longer days arrive, things are bound to get a bit better!

Hi Kleiber lovey, thanks for your reply :) You are right, sleep always helps. I was wondering, do you hire your cat out for short periods?! Jack also likes to wrap himself round you/lie across you/underneath you/on top/right next to you at bedtime, so I am not sure puss would fit! Thanks for the tips. I have been looking at which essential oils do what, and lavender looks like a general all round relaxer! Will hit the shops later for a browse. xx

SRH thank you so much for your tips too. I think you are right about the experience of a 1-2-1 interaction: I think just feeling 'special' for a short while can be really valuable to our health! I do have good news-I booked a lovely full-body aromatherapy massage last night for next week, after my birthday, and then when I spoke to my dad on the phone he offered to pay for it as my present from him and mum! So it'll be nice to give it a go, and if I enjoy it I will make it a regular thing. My old boss did Pilates, and really enjoyed it, so I will definitely look for something local that's similar. I am also interested in Martial Arts-it might be worth looking into that!

I walk the dog daily, and that's usully my chill-out hour. No distractions, and it blows away the cobwebs!
