Question about Heath Ledger's death
11 Answers
I thought at first it was a tragic accident, but now as more facts emerge, i'm starting to wonder if it was a cry for help gone wrong, or a straightforward suicide.
When he was first found (by his housekeeper to let his masseuse in), he was only unconcious (and in cardiac arrest by the time the emergency services got there) so it's not as if he'd overdosed the night before and lain dead all night/morning.
I don't know much about how the tablets work or cardiac arrest or anything and I accept that i could be completely wrong, there's just some things that i feel are a bit strange!
If he had a masseuse coming in the afternoon, why did he take sleeping tablets that day? It's unlikely that he took them the night before as he surely wouldn've died sooner?

I know how ratty I get on 6! Well he said he turned to drink and drugs, not hard drugs sleeping tablets. I think it was just an overdose and he wasnt meant to kill himself, he was found naked and what person if they are going to commit suicide wants someone to find them naked. But as Ive said yes he may have had a lot more than others but who knows what was going on in his head. Someone on tv this morning said he suffered terrible mood swings, people have down days but he would go from being overly happy to the most extreme depression.
if he'd been working late maybe he took them in the morning hoping to get some sleep before the masseuse arrived? Took too many for whatever reason and didn't wake up. If he's been to Australia recently he might simply have been jetlagged - that can last days or even weeks if you can't get back into a proper routine.
If what 4get said is true, then he sounds bipolar. I lost a fmaily friend to suicide through him being bipolar. He would be fine (ecstatic infact) and then attempting suicide. He killed himself in a way that the normal happy guy we knew wouldn;t have dreamed about, he cared about people too much. He threw himself off a cliff at their favourite beach in the southwest. He didn;t seem to care that a child might find him or that he would ruin this place for his huge family forever.

The Joker's character is based on his first two appearances in the comic books, as well as his portrayal in the graphic novel "The Killing Joke." To prepare for the role, Heath Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month researching the character and developing his performance, which he claims is based upon Sid Vicious and the character of Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Ledger found the role extremely difficult, and suffered insomnia as a result.
Wonder if this had anything to do with it? maybe too much research!

he told an interviewer he was having trouble sleeping and would often take a sleeping pill. If one didn't work he'd take another. See near the end of this:

It really does just sound like an accidental overdose of prescription pills
