claim by neigbour in flat below
4 Answers
I live in an upstairs flat and my neighbour below claims water is leaking from my bathroom through to her ceiling. Will my house insurance cover damage to her ceiling. I have yet to prove or disprove the water is actually coming from my bathroom as claimed. Thanks for ANY advice on this one I am novice on this subject.

Every insurance policy I've ever seen has a liability to Third Parties clause. This covers you if the postman trips up over your paving slabs, say. It should also cover the event you mention - but pull the Policy Document out and have a look at the small print. You may indeed have to take appropriate steps to migigate the 3rd Party's claim (like call a plumber out quickly).

I had a leak from my neighbour upstairs last year and I had to make a claim as it was not a "deliberate" act by the neighbour upstairs. I even gave my insuarnce company the insurance details of my neighbour but they were not interested. If your neighbour downstairs is insured with Churchill like I am then your laughing.
