How about looking for jobs in a local school, such as teaching assistant/midday supervisor etc. You would only work school hours and have all the holidays off.
Good luck.
Ask for an appointment at your local Jobcentre Plus office to meet a Lone Parent Adviser. These advisers are aware of jobs that have family friendly terms etc. In addition to this, Lone Parent Advisers can offer you a better-off calculation (how much you need to earn before you're financially better-off) and can tell you about other incentives that are available in your area.
also try going to all the agencies in town the worst that can happen is you have to say no to an offer theres nothing they can do about it
It might not appeal, but have you thought about working AT a Jobcentre Plus (old DSS I think). Their hours are flexible, and although wages might not be fantastic, they'd pay you enough to get off benefits and with some to spare - x
