have a female jack russell who will be 2 in april, and when we give her a chew stick she always comes and puts it towards my mouth, she would be more than happy for me to take it off her and start chewing myself i'm sure. does anyone know why she does this?

She maybe just thinks that as you gave her it she should give it back. Do you throw things for her and tell her to fetch ? If so, she sounds as if she is doing the same thing with the chew.
She thinks you are trying to poison her, and wants you to taste it first!
lankeela, lol!

Hi florence, does sound a bit like a game of fetch doesn't it! Maybe she wants you to share in the joy of a good chew!?

It sounds like she's treating you as one of the pack and, accepting that you're the leader, could be that she's sharing her "kill" with you!!! How sweet! My two just wolf down anything I give them, although my GSD bitch was quite happy to let one of the cats have a bit of her chew at Christmas.
